Chinese government partners tell Half The Sky (HTS) that there are almost 800,000 orphaned children in China. It is safe to estimate that at least 200,000 live beneath the government radar. All of these 1,000,000 children need help. The Chinese government has asked Half The Sky to transform the entire child welfare system based on the HTS model of nurture and enrichment. Help us help Half The Sky. . . and thus help the orphaned children of China. Through its Rainbow Program, Half The Sky is working with Chinese officials to train every single child welfare worker in China! The target goal is to raise $1,000,000 by June 2012.

In the past Open Arms Children’s Foundation has contributed $60,000 to Half The Sky Canada Foundation to help with the initial establishment of the Yibin orphanage in Sichuan province, the first Canadian build by Half The Sky. Open Arms Children’s Foundation also donated money toward Half The Sky’s emergency relief work after the 2008 Sichuan earthquake.

In 2010, Open Arms was pleased to be able to give half The Sky Canada $10,000 toward the ongoing care of children in the Yibin project. The funds cover the training and support of the nannies who care for the infants, toddlers and pre-school children.

Half the Sky was created in order to enrich the lives and enhance the prospects for orphaned children in China. We establish and operate infant nurture and preschool programs, provide personalized learning for older children and establish loving permanent family care and guidance for children with disabilities. It is our goal to ensure that every orphaned child has a caring adult in her life and a chance at a bright future.
